Had an awesome Saturday in Nashville’s Country Music Hall of Fame. Peter Cooper interviewing Kim Carnes, amazing! Kim talked about her early years in LA writing material for pre-Eagles and then Kenny Rogers and The First Edition. One of her “pinch me moments” was singing with Rita Coolidge and Bonnie Bramlett (Delaney and Bonnie) “Higher and Higher.” Kim treated everyone singing “Bette Davis Eyes” and a few other songs after the interview. Billboard ranked the piece 2nd biggest hit of the 1980s. Written by Jackie DeShannon and Donna Weiss, “Bette Davis Eyes” was originally recorded by Jackie in 1974 in a major key. Kim recorded it in 81 changing the song from a major to a minor key. Got to talk with Kim afterwards, very sweet lady.
