She’s the lady from Monticello Georgia. Wow, can she sing. The Country Music Hall of Fame’s Peter Cooper interviewed Trisha Yearwood before a full house. Starting out as a demo singer, later her career progressed singing at the famous Douglas Corner. In March 1991, she released “She’s in Love with the Boy” that went to number one. Trisha became the first female country music singer to sell a million copies. Even after receiving a fan letter from Johnny Cash, Trisha never took herself too seriously, referring to herself as “the singing stick.”
After her interview, Trisha performed for over 60 minutes singing songs “Cowboys Are My Weakness,” “On a Bus to St. Cloud,” “Walk Away Joe,” and other hits. But, Trisha brought the house to a standing ovation when she covered Patsy Cline’s “Sweet Dreams,” then did an unbelievable version of “Somewhere Over the Rainbow.” As one reporter said, “It brought tears to my eyes.”
