Music struck a chord early in life, and with a Bachelor’s Degree in Commercial Music and Recording from Georgia State University in Atlanta, JR Miller knew he was destined to work in the music business in some way. And through the years he has done just that.
The trumpet was his instrument of choice in high school, as part of the jazz band. He later studied Accounting, Pre-Law, Copyright Law, Publishing/Songwriting, and Artist Representation. For a short time he was a Radio DJ in Atlanta, and later he worked an internship at an Atlanta-based Radio Programming agency.
Miller has served in varied capacities, including:
-
Tour Coordinator for Grammy-nominated musicians Sam Phillips and Benny Hester – booked flights and hotels, provided tour support, sold merchandise, and created and provided publicity materials to Jane Pauley for Sam Phillips’ appearance on the Today Show
-
Part of the management team for Mylon LeFevre and Broken Heart Ministries
-
Member and co-founder of Christian music group Joyspring, handling all bookings, publicity, and accounting, and served as Associate Producer during recording sessions
-
Worked with Speer Music Publishing screening songs to record
-
Served as Booking Agent/Manager for the Ken Apple Family
-
Worked with Amy Grant’s Tour Manager, assisting with recruiting security for an Atlanta show, among other tasks
-
Worked with various artists organizing and developing bios and press kits
With a long history in music, it’s very fitting that Miller now makes his home in Nashville, long considered “Music City USA.”
Since 2012, Miller has been writing Music Reviews, covering new releases across the genres. Miller has amassed quite a collection of music, ranging from blues to jazz to country to alt-rock.
Miller is a member of the Country Music Hall of Fame, the Nashville Blues Society, and the Country Music Association.
